American phone company fires four employees over gifts

Verizon Business, a company based in the United States, has reportedly let go four of its employees following an investigation that they have given gifts such as hockey tickets, dinners and spa treatments to the high ranking officials of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, Division of Air Quality and Department of Transportation.

There are no indications whether unique gifts for women were provided for these high profile company officials. However, it has been determined that the State Bureau of Investigation has been establishing a relationship between the fired employees and state officials. This is in relation to Verizon winning a $51.5 million state contract that makes it possible to provide data services and computers to the aforementioned North Carolina offices.

Verizon spokesperson Jack Hoey said that they have already decided to terminate the four employees and reprimanded the fifth employee and was removed to the particular account.
