British couple gives away anniversary gift to volunteer doctors

Instead of spending lavishly to celebrate their 25th year anniversary, a British couple decided to make their day fruitful by raising funds in order to donate money to the volunteer doctors.

The anniversary gift given by Dave and Sheila Gawn of Bedhampton was indeed selfless. The 72-year old couple donated the funds to the British Association for Immediate Care’s Hampshire Division. The gathering that they staged, attended by nearly 300 family and friends, was simple and raised £300 ($600).

The volunteer doctors from the charity organization will be aided by the funds to continue providing medical care to those who are in need. As known by the many, the charity relies on donations by the public since it doesn’t get any funding from the government.

Volunteer Lynne Caine said that they were touched by the lovely gesture of the couple, saying that it is really useful during the times of need.

The group has been raising funds regularly in order to continue its mission of providing medical assistance. Recently, they sold knitted Easter chicks which raised more than $1,200 for the group.
