Chinese cities give away travel vouchers to boost tourism

In an effort to boost tourism, several major cities in China are now giving away travel vouchers to encourage more people to travel without spending too much. Another popular strategy that’s brewing among cities is that exchanging of travel vouchers.

The peak season is already near in China and the global financial crisis poses a big threat thus prompting tourist destinations to offer travel vouchers. However, there’s a growing concern that must be addressed.

According to reports, the idea of sending the travel vouchers via regular mail may be detrimental considering that it could take a longer time for the person to receive the vouchers and by the time, the offer may have expired. A number of people think that it would be better to put up these vouchers online for easy swapping. It’s cost effective because consumers need not spend for postal fees.

Tourist destinations in China offer three kinds of vouchers: cash, discount and free tickets. A number of these travel vouchers have specific expiration dates plus certain restrictions as well. The recipients and traders are advised to be careful in swapping travel vouchers.
